ABOUT ME

JAI Institute Certified Parent Coach

Having had my own struggles as a child, I have always been drawn to helping kids. My background, for close to 20 years, had focused on helping children who struggle academically, often due to emotional barriers. It is not having a learning disability, ADHD, or physical difference that causes kids to fail, it is them not believing in their abilities. Having a mindset that propels kids forward is hard to do when, as a parent, you are struggling yourself. I saw over and over, children who came from well-meaning families, but were not being set up for success. I would work with them part of the day, but then they would go home to negativity and chaos. Over time, I became tired of putting on a bandaid for a child, only to have it ripped off once they went home. The next day I would have to redress the wounds that never truly healed.

Enter Parent Coaching, I already had a master’s degree in Counseling, and believed adding a coaching certification would be the perfect fit. I wanted to help parents heal their own wounds, so they could have the space to learn how to support their children by interacting with them in new ways. Through supporting and teaching, my goal is to empower parents to prevent the behaviors, or future ones, that cause such stress for the entire family.

I am also a mom of three teenagers, so I get it. Parenting is wonderful, rewarding and unbelievably challenging. It is also the most important job we will ever have. In addition to carrying on our legacy, our children will be the future leaders, caregivers, innovators, and activists of our world. I believe as parents, we need to teach our kids how to show empathy for others, especially those who have different beliefs, how to solve conflicts respectfully, and how to become a responsible citizen once they are grown.

As a coach, I believe it is my job to teach, guide, nudge, and support parents to show up as the best version of themselves for their kids. This work is deep, informative, and can be transformational. I know this because I am only one step ahead of my clients, and use everything I share with others, with my own family.

I offer individualized coaching, a peaceful parenting class, and facilitate a support group, all online. If meeting in person is preferred, and you are within 60 miles of Salem, Oregon, accommodations can be made.
